Set of computers developed by British codebreakers from 1943-1945

Designed by research telephone engineer Tommy Flowers to solve a math problem

the world’s first programmable, electronic, digital computer

quintupled the processing speed by using shift registers

Prototype MK I was working in 1943, MK II in 1944. Used shift registers to quintuple processing speed.

Allowed the Allies to obtain a high amount of military information and hidden till 1970s

First of the electronic digital machines with programmability, set a precedent for years to come
